Ash Wednesday Service: February 22, 2012
Saint Raphael's by the Sea will conduct a traditional Ash Wednesday Service/Mass at Noon on February 22, 2011. Once again The Beach Baptist Church has opened their worship space to us so that we can hold this moving service. Please join us and receive the ashes as an outward sign of our faith in Jesus, the Risen Savior.

New Alpha Program Initiated
Thursday Evening, 6:00 PM, 5590 Williams Drive, Fort Myers Beach, FL
Call Cris at 239-699-6899 with any questions!
What is Alpha?
Alpha is an opportunity to explore the meaning of life in a relaxed, friendly setting. The Alpha course usually meets once per week for 7 weeks. Each session, people enjoy great food, laughter and learning in a fun and friendly atmosphere where no question about life or God is seen as too simple or too hostile ...questions like-Is there a God? Why am I here? Where did I come from? Where am I going?
Who is Alpha for?
Alpha is for anyone...anyone who thinks there may be more to life than meets the eye.
People attend from all backgrounds, religions, and viewpoints. They come to investigate questions about the existence of God, the purpose of life, the afterlife, the claims of Jesus and more. Some people want to get beyond religion and find a relationship with God that really changes life. Others come for the close, long-lasting friendships that are built during the Alpha course.
Many guests have never been to church, others may have attended church occasionally but feel they have never really understood the basics of the Christian faith. Everyone is welcome.
How Much Will It Cost?
There is no charge for attending the Alpha course.
What happens at Alpha?
Each gathering begins with a meal or refreshments - a chance to get to know others. Then there is a short talk which looks at a different aspect of the Christian faith each week. This is followed by a time of discussion in small groups, where everyone is welcome to contribute their opinion and ask questions. The emphasis is upon exploration and discovery in a relaxed and informal environment.

Benefit raises $1,600 for Children's Hospital
December 29, 2011
Fort Myers Beach Bulletin, Fort Myers Beach Observer
On Saturday, Dec. 17, Saint Raphael's by the Sea Anglican Church, along with Fort Myers High School Junior Bailey Mullarkey, held a benefit to raise money for the local Children's Hospital of SW Florida, and gather toys for local beach families in need (Spirit of the Holidays).
The party was held at Roxie Smith's Historical Cottage on Fort Myers Beach and hosted by Leeanna Parsons and Starla Mullarkey.
A huge thanks goes out to the local businesses who donated gifts for the raffle and auction: Cottages of Paradise Point, DiamondHead, The Beached Whale, The McGregor Grill, Mid Island Water Sports, The Nauti Turtle, The Big M, Princess Cruises, Parrot Key, Bay Beach Golf Club, Judy's Hair Design, Junkanoo's, Matanzas Inn, Croc's Outlet Store and Yucatan.
The event was live streamed on the Internet so that St. Raphael's by the Sea Church's members and friends around the nation could join in on the fun and participate in the auction. This benefit raised $1,600 dollars for the children's hospital and almost 50 toys for the kids. Future plans are for this Charity Christmas Party to be an annual event on Fort Myers Beach.
